WILLISTON, RUTH MARGARET
Ruth Margaret Williston, 86, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Born in Troutbrook, NB, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Elizabeth Allison.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, baking, jigsaw puzzles and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom loved to dance and passed that on to all of her children. She also loved to travel, and visited the British Isles, France, Germany, Holland and Florida and took a cruise to Alaska. She also enjoyed her annual trips to the Miramichi to visit family and friends. We will be forever grateful to Angie of Oakwood for making her last trip home possible.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Debra (Ron) Browne, Hammonds Plains, Gail (Jim) Brown, Dartmouth ; sons, Allen (Gracia), Moncton, NB, Glen , Dartmouth, and Gerald (Kim Bruhn), Forest Hills; grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Parker,Moncton, NB., Michael (Marianne Gilbert) Browne, Burnaby, BC., Sarah (Michael) Vessey, Halifax, Matthew Williston, Moncton,NB, Danielle Williston, Dartmouth, Annette (Michael Teal) Williston, Eastern Passage, Laura (Boone Seddon) Williston and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings William (Grace) Allison, Stephen (Dana) Allison, Phyllis Norton, Sarah Silliker, Andrea (Edward) Waye, Elsie (Holly) Baisley and many, many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Gerald Kingsley Williston; brothers, Wendell and Herschell Allison; brothers-in law, Harold Silliker and Hubert Norton.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, September 10 from 7 to 9pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 11 at 2pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev Alan Moravek officiating with a reception to follow. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Oakwood Terrace.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Terrace D unit for all of the care and support they provided to Mom and all of us.
