James Vincent 'Vince' Sheppard, 67, of Dartmouth, passed away on Nov. 6, 2015 at home.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Sheppard.
Vince worked and coached YBC (youth bowling) at the Bowladrome for many years. He volunteered with the Dartmouth Boys and Girls Club where he coached many different sports teams. He was a past director of the Farrell Benevolent Society, a constant figure at the Farrell Hall Bingo and a Staple of the North End. He was a positive influence for a multitude of youth over the years who affectionately referred to him as “Dad”.
Vince is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christine (Killeen); and his son Barrie. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Brookman, Kay (Gardiner) Young, Jane Sheppard; brothers Michael (Robin), David (Julie); and many nieces and nephews.
Vince was predeceased by his sister Margaret Rose Sheppard.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 9) in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. James Haughn officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow in the funeral home.
