Isabel MacInnis, age 94, High Crest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke and formerly of Sydney, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 in the nursing home.
Born in Marble Mountain, she was a daughter of the late William and Cassie Jessie (Campbell) MacInnis. Over her lifetime, Isabel worked numerous jobs at bookkeeping and accounting, all in which she enjoyed doing. When the war broke out, she worked in Point Edward at the Naval Base as a munitions inspector. She loved going to dances, many at which her husband Sandy was playing the fiddle. She was a member of Rebekah’s Lodge and as well as The Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her daughter, Wilma MacInnis; son, Greg MacInnis; grandchildren, Michael William 'Bill' MacKinnon (Jill), Zandra MacInnis (Paul White), Nadine Strong (Don Radtke), Che MacInnis (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Billy Strong, Josh Stewart, Regan MacInnis, Kayla Stewart, Colbin MacInnis, Caoimhe White.
Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Sandy MacInnis (2001); brother, Kenneth MacInnis; sisters, Barbara MacMillan and Agnes Poushay.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. (today) Wednesday in Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Visitation will then take place on Thursday from 12–3 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury and from where the funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. with Karen Ross officiating. Burial in Lime Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
