Marjory Horsman

Marjory Ann HORSMAN (McIntosh), age 91, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away Thursday March 24, 2016 in Melville Gardens Retirement Home in Halifax, surrounded by her loving family.
Marjory was born in Nairn Scotland on March 7, 1925. She met and married her first husband Carl, a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Towards the end of the war, at 20 years of age, with two babies and a third on the way, she left her home in Scotland and embarked on a three week journey by boat to begin her life in Canada.
She arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax in May 1945 with many other war brides. Marjory was a very kind, loving and gentle person loved by many. She has often been described as having “a heart of gold” and being “one in a million”
She is survived by sons, Verne (Carol) and Gary (Sherri); daughters Heather (Dwaine) McLean, Deborah and Lorna; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay) Dool, Carl (Colleen), Sheri, Kayte McLaughlin (Marty), Matt McLaughlin (Jodie), Michelle McLean (James), Christopher (Ariana) Davis, Allison (Mike) Swierz, Sarah Cole, Daryl Cole, Karen (Brian) Habib, Christy MacDonald, Joanne (Dave) Treen, and Shelly (Andre) Beaulieu; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alex, Ben, Zachary, Logan, Hannah, Sam, Jerod, Jasenda, Heather Marie, Davis, Elliott, Sophie, Lily, Ryan, Anna, Robyn, Teresa and Isobel.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members in Canada and Scotland.
She was predeceased by her first husband Carl Horsman, her second husband Eric Horsman; daughter Valerie McLaughlin; son Daryl John; son-in-law George Cole and granddaughter Tracey Lynne McLean.
A memorial service celebrating Marjory’s life will take place on Monday April 4 at 1pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with a reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date in New Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
