Muriel Isabel Curtis, age 77 of St. George’s Channel, Richmond Co. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Friday, April 29, 2016 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston after a courageous battle with cancer.
Muriel was born in Antigonish on Feb. 16, 1939 to the late William 'Bill' and Effie (Balsillie) Bayne.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John 'Buddy'; sons, Todd (Laurie Jarvis), Cold Lake, Alta.; Craig (Lori), St. George’s Channel; Nanny’s girls, Nicole, Charlotte, Grace, Hannah; brothers, Bill (Phyllis), Indiana; David, Sydney; nieces, Kelly, Tracy and Kim; nephew, Mike; aunt, Helen, Ontario; many cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
There will be no visitation or service by Muriel’s request. Burial in MacKay Cemetery, St George’s Channel at a later date.
Muriel would like to thank Dr. Collins, Dr. Pluta, Dr. Jensen and Dr. Cooper, Nancy Cameron and the many nurses and homecare workers who have taken care of her these past few years.
Donations may be made on Muriel’s behalf to Strait Richmond Palliative Care, Cape Breton Cancer Treatment Centre or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
