Eleanor Martha Brown, 86, of Glenn Haven Manor, New Glasgow and formerly of Truro, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 in the Aberdeen Regional Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Botwood, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Hoddinott) Hemeon. Eleanor worked at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Fletcher’s Restaurant, Metropolitan Store, Truro and Luxury Lunch in Stellarton, where she worked as a cook and where she made many lifelong friends. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed knitting mittens and scarves for her extended family. She is survived by sons Grant (Lyn) of Valley, Anthony of Truro; daughters, Marleine of Truro, Valerie of Truro, Penny (Frank) of Debert; several special and loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Nancy), Scott (Shirley), Reg (Georgina), all of Botwood, Nfld.; sisters, Netta Waterman of Botwood, Nfld., Carrie (Jacques) Favereau of Gander, Nfld., Marg Marquette of North Bay, Ont., Trix (William) Martyn of Surrey, B.C.; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Grant James Brown; brothers, Wilson and Ted. Visitation will be 7 to 9 Sunday and funeral service Monday at 2 p.m., all in the Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Rev. Dr. Brian Ross will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill. Family flowers only.
