Francis (Frank) Nash

Date de décès : 1er août 2014

Francis (Frank) Nash of Placentia passed away on August 1, 2014, with his loving wife by his side. He passed away peacefully after a lengthy stay at the Carbonear General Hospital where he fought hard to recover from a difficult surgery. Despite the many complications, he never lost his will to get better so he could return to his home with his family. He received the best care and attention from all the nursing staff and his doctors during his stay, there was not a dry eye on the 5th floor at the Carbonear Hospital when he passed, He sincerely loved all his nurses. He remained strong in his faith and in his love for his wife and family right to the end. Francis is predeceased by his parents William and Rose (Hennessey) Nash, his parents-in-law Arthur and Philomenia O'Keefe; his infant brother Allan; his sister and brother-in-law Alice and Frank Dunderdale; his sister-in-law Lillian Nash; brother-in-law Ed Greene and countless other relatives that have gone before him especially his uncles Joseph and Gussie Nash and his good friend Rupert O'Rourke. He leaves behind an unfillable void in the lives of Loretta, his wife and his rock; his daughters Frankie (Edmond Ouellette), Karyn (Keith Collins); and, his only son, Rodney; his sister Betty (Gerald Coombs), his brother and best friend Don (Sharon) and his sister Theresa in Florida; brother-in-law Art (Elsie) O'Keefe, Mary Greene and Bill (Bride) O'Keefe as well as countless nieces and nephews and his extended family in Branch. It would not be complete to include his dog, Fogo, who brought great comfort to Dad and a lot of housework for Loretta. Those who loved him most called him "Poppy" and they are his grandchildren: Vanessa (Rob Dawe); Joshua Collins; Savannah Collins; Stephanie; and Kailee. Poppy adored his grandchildren and he was so very proud of them. They brought him joy and contentment but nothing compared to the joy he found in his little girl, Kailee, his youngest grandchild and the centre of his universe. Dad was an avid sport fisher, ham radio operator (V01FK) and an overall lover for the outdoors. He will be missed from the ponds between Southeast and North Harbour and the Branch River where he found peace and contentment during salmon and trouting season. Dad will be a missed sight from his pool on Branch river. Branch was Dad's birthplace but it meant so much more to him than this because it was his childhood memories of Branch that defined Francis Nash and he was loved by so many people from there. One of these people in Branch is his Aunt Sadie Nash, who he loved like she was his mother. A hard worker, Dad was known throughout the construction industry for his work ethic, cooking and baking skills and was well respected in his trade. Yesterday, while we were sitting by his side, we wondered how many pounds of dough his hands had rolled out in his lifetime. His was well-known and loved by so many people he worked with and made life-long friendships. Resting at Coombs Funeral Home in Placentia on Saturday from 7:00 - 9:00 and Sunday from 12:00 - 9:00. Funeral Mass to take place on Monday August 4 at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made in his name to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund.
