It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Phillip MacDonald on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
He was born Oct. 31, 1935 in North River.
Donald was the loving husband of Ethel (MacRae) for 59 years. He was father, grandfather and great-grandfather to Bonnie (Brian) MacNeil, Sydney Mines and their sons, Adam and Bradley (Laura) and their daughter, Breton Grace; Barry (Shirley) MacDonald, Grande Prairie, Alta. and their son, Zachary; Phyllis (David) MacLellan, Ottawa Brook and their son, Kaleb and Grampie’s girl Lólaidh. Donald is also survived by three sisters, Betty Kerr, Sydney, Jessie, Halifax and Annie Roberts, Baddeck and one brother, MJ (Joyce) Toronto.
Donald was Past Master, St. Mark’s Lodge No 35; 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason; Past Patron of Eastern Star and a Shriner.
Donald spent most of his life working construction only to retire to a life of playing and enjoying music.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating. Reception at Knox Church Hall, to follow burial at Harbourview Cemetery, South Haven.
