
HUGH HARRIS "HUGHIE" YORKE
YORKE, HUGH HARRIS "HUGHIE" Hughie Yorke of Fredericton, NB passed away of natural causes at his home on Monday, March 4, 2002. Born in Parrsboro, NS, he was the son of the late Laurie and Dorothy (Leizert) Yorke. Hughie came to Fredericton to be Captain of the Pioneer Princess. Later, he moved into car sales working at Sutherland Mazda for several years. Hughie loved his friends and family and enjoyed entertaining and playing for them. He was well known for his musical talent and was a favorite at the NB Country Showcase and the Country Junction. Hughie was also an avid fan and Sports Announcer of the New Brunswick International Speedway and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Hughie is survived by his daughter, Laura Yorke of Bridgewater, NS, and her sister Tara and her children Corey and Alicia; sisters, Harriet McCready (Chuck) of Halifax, NS and Joyce Yorke (Greg Colpitts) of Yorke Settlement, NS; brother, Michael Yorke (Laurie Wile) of Halifax, NS; nieces, Connie and Alyson McCready and Debbie Hazel; nephew, Richard Field; great niece, Caitlin McCready and great nephew, Riley McCready. Hughie will also be sadly missed by a long time personal friend, Janet Lovegrove and her daughter Lyndsay; chosen brother Rick Bendokas and Zachary and Elizabeth Shannon who loved their adopted Uncle. He was a great man who will be loved and remembered forever. Besides his parents, Hughie is predeceased by his brother, Evan. There will be no visitation by family request. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 7th, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Verner Drost officiating. Hughie will be brought back to his family's settlement on Yorke Mountain in Parrsboro, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
