MITCHELL, MURRAY D. The passing of Murray Douglas Mitchell occurred at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton on Tuesday, May 7, 2002. He was 80. Born in Penniac, NB., he was a son of the late William Morris Mitchell and Hildred (Savage) Mitchell. Murray was a veteran of World War II having served overseas with the 6th Group RCAF and also served with the RCAF from 1955-1970. He was retired school bus driver and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4, Fredericton. Survived by his companion Annie Logan; five children, Glen and wife Lynn of Lower Sackville, NS., Dianne Gaudet and husband David of Charlottetown, PEI, Heather Melvin and husband Samuel of Fredericton, Lester and wife Patricia of Kouchibouguac, NB and Terry of Moncton; eight brothers and sisters, Millard (Marion) of Browns Flats, NB., Irvine (Marjorie) of Saint John, NB., May Johnson (Donald of Marysville, Helen Riley (Pat) of Douglas, Faith LaPointe (Bill) of Fredericton, Warren of Marysville, Shirley Saunders (George) of Marysville and Merville (Gayle) of Fredericton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; his wife Eleanor Isabel (Sherren) Mitchell; brothers Dale and Bill and sisters Gertrude Davidson and Geraldine Crawford. Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Thursday from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from First Wesleyan Church, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton, Friday May 10, 2002 at 2:00 pm followed by interment in the Sunny Bank Cemetery where a graveside legion tribute service will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Veteran's Health Unit c/o The Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 9000, Fredericton, NB E3B 5N5.
