KEVIN PATRICK BURNS
BURNS, KEVIN PATRICK, Kevin Patrick Burns died at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB on March 10, 2003. Born at St. John's Nfld on September 23, 1942, son of Patrick J. Burns and the late Edna (Purdy) Burns. After graduation from Fredericton High School he entered the employ of Modern Construction as executive clerk and safety inspector overseeing construction sites throughout the Maritimes, one such as the Centennial Building in Fredericton. On completion of this project he entered employ of the Provincial Government Supply & Services and engaged in a variety of responsibilities leading to the position of Director of Purchasing. He retired from that position in 1996 after 29 years of service. Kevin was well known in the car industry. He was recognised throughtout the Maritimes as a curator and collector of Pontiac G.T.O. Cars. His interest in cars led to showing his vintage cars in car shows throughout the Maritimes and Maine. For a number of years he owned and operated the Pennfield International Dragway at Pennfield, NB. This led to many enjoyable summers at the camp in Beaver Harbour. He together with a group of fellow car buffs organized and operated Truck Pulls which were main attractions at Fairs and Exhibitions in Maine and the Atlantic Provinces Kevin is survived by his wife Wendy (Barry) and daughters Carrie Ann and Sara May; a brother Richard P. his wife Susan, their daughter Jane, and his father Patrick; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, March 12th with visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Dunstans Church on Thursday March 13th at 12:00 Noon. Msgr. Brian Sheehan as Celebrant. Also with participation by Rev. Robert Barry.
