BARTON, VERNA MAUDE The death of Verna Maude Barton occurred Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at York Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Newcastle Bridge, NB. She was the wife of the late Havelock Barton and daughter of the late Wesley and Maude (Nightingale) Barton of The Range, NB. Verna was a member of the United Baptist Church of Minto, NB, Womens Missionary, Orange Lodge LOBA #1239 from The Range, Honorary member of the Grand Lodge of NB, life member of the Womens Institute of Cumberland Bay and a member of the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party. She is survived by three sons, Eldon (Ruth) of Hardwood Ridge, NB, Delbert of Moncton, NB, Calvin (Marion) of Edmonton, Alberta, one daughter Irene Hicks of Chipman, NB, one brother Harold of Lower Cumberland Bay, NB, four sisters Phyllis McCumber of Saint John, NB, Lillian Doherty of Chipman, NB, Mildred (Roy) Weaver of The Range, NB and Bessie (Alex) Barton of The Range, NB. Verna is also survived by many grandchildren and many great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers. Leslie, Sterling and Tommy, one sister Lula McNamara. Resting at the Minto Funeral Home, 327-3490 with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the United Baptist Church of Minto. Interment will take place at The Range Cemetery at a later date. Donations to United Baptist Church of Minto or donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
