VERNON OSCAR ESTEY

ESTEY, VERNON OSCAR The death of Vernon Oscar Estey of Zealand, husband of A. Jean (Betts) Estey, occurred on Monday, April 28, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Zealand, he was the son of Julia (Morehouse) Estey and the late Ossie Estey. Mr. Estey was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver with Sandi-Co. He was active in the community, being a past president of the Keswick Valley Pony Club, and was also a hobby farmer. A loving husband, father, and wonderful Papa, Mr. Estey was also a Foster Parent, and a member of the Zealand Pentecostal Church. In addition to his wife and his mother, Vernon is survived by a son, Ossie Estey (Diane) of Zealand; daughters Vera Brewer (Elwin), Velma Jewett (Hazen), Mary Staples (Sean Conrad), all of Zealand, Terri Jones (Gregory) of Vanceboro, North Carolina, and Lisa Morehouse (Glenn) of Zealand; one brother; six sisters, grandchildren Brittany Estey, Teddy and Samantha (Derek) Brewer, Jennifer Jewett, Roy and Ryan Staples, Ernest Bragdon, Matthew and Katie Morehouse; a great grandson Nicholas Brewer; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Estey was predeceased by two sisters. Visitation will take place at the United Pentecostal Church in Zealand on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM from the church. Rev. D. R. McCarty will officiate. Interment will take place in the Zealand Community Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Robbie Roden, Peter Colford, John Gracie, Arnold Brewer, Ralph Nason (Butch), and Clayton Morehouse. Honourary Pallbearers will be Royce Hoyt and Danny Estey. For those who wish, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital or to the church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
