MACDONALD, WILLIAM RICHARD "DICK" The death of William Richard "Dick" MacDonald of Maugerville, husband of Elizabeth Iva (Burke) MacDonald, occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. Born in Iris, PEI, he was the son of the late Archibald Ogilvie and Elsie (Moore) MacDonald. Dick was employed for many years with Diamond Construction and owned and operated a farm in Maugerville. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Continental Europe from 1941-45 in the Heavy Artillery Division of the Army. He liked horses, especially Clydesdales, which he raised on his farm. Mr. MacDonald was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife of 70 years, Dick is survived by two daughters, Wilma Fraser (Aulton) of Fredericton, and Joey Carpenter (Earle) of Deer Island; one son, George MacDonald (Lori) of Marysville; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Elsie Cook, Pearl Campbell, Gladys Kadish and Mary Neill; and by brothers Jack and Napier MacDonald. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North, on Thursday from 79 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 PM from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel. Rev. Lawrence Meade will officiate. Interment will follow in Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Arthur Carpenter, Jamie Carpenter, Wade Richardson, Rick Fraser, Randall Fraser, and Jonathan Fraser.
