BYRON FREEMAN SMITH

SMITH, BYRON FREEMAN The death of Byron F. Smith of Geary occurred on Thursday, October 2nd, 2003 at the Veteran's Health Unit in Fredericton. Born in Geary, he was the son of the late Freeman and Beatrice (Drummond) Smith and husband of Frances (Carr) Smith. Byron was a veteran of WWII and had served overseas and was a member of the Fredericton Legion Branch # 4. Byron was a retired mechanic. He also worked assisting surveyor's on projects at CFB Gagetown, Mactaquac Dam and Churchill Falls. Survived by his wife Frances of Geary, one sister Joyce Carr (Wilson) of Geary, four nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Freeman and Beatrice, one sister Elizabeth (Ivan) Smith and sister-in-law Laura (Clarence) Carr. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Saturday, October 4th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Oromocto Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home at 7:00 pm Saturday evening. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5th, 2003 at 2:30 pm at the Geary United Baptist Chuch. Rev. Greg Sparks will officiate. Interment will take place in the Lower Geary Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Geary, Waterville, French Lake Cemetery Committee or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.oromoctofh.com
