Henry Oscar Arkens

WESTVILLE ROAD - Henry Oscar Arkens, 68, Westville Road, passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born at Westville Road, he was a son of the late Gerard and Mary (Wojcik) Arkens. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking, and going for drives on his motor cycle. Henry operated his own auto body repair business on Westville Road for over 30 years. He later became a school bus driver until retirement. He was an adherent of St. Paul United Church, Westville. Henry will be sadly missed by his wife, Gloria (Darroch); and sons, Stephen (Sherry), Pugwash; Allan (Sherry) Green Hill; and grandchildren: Christopher, Jeffery and Jodi. He is also survived by sisters, Mary (Fulton) MacDonald, Munro Avenue Ext.; Nellie Guthro, P.E.I. He will be lovingly remember by his many in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerard "Gerry"; and father and mother-in-law, John and Jean Darroch. Visitations will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in Henry's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
