Westville – J. Elwood “Bubby” MacLaughlin, 82, of North Street, Westville, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Westville, March 3, 1925, he was a son of the late John James and Mary Agnes (Cote) MacLaughlin. Elwood worked at various jobs over the years, including the Drummond Mine, Ben’s Bread, Tibbetts Paints, and Maritime Steel. He worked his last 23 years at Scott Maritimes Ltd., retiring in 1990. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed curling and fishing with his friends and had a great passion for music, especially the big band sound; however, his family was always most important to him. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Elizabeth (Fraser); daughter, Carol Clark (Bill), Lyons Brook; Gail Fraser (Fred), New Glasgow; sons: Gary, Westville; Wayne (Terry), Westville; and Kevin (Lisa), Westville; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Isabel Wright, Doris Logan, Laurren Stoffmehl and Dot Fraser. He was predeceased by grandson, Master Corporal Christopher Clark. Visitations will be held from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Assoc. or a charity of one’s choice.
