GARNETT, FLORENCE EDNA (LISTER) The passing of Florence Edna (Lister) Garnett, wife of the late Rev. Frederick Garnett, occurred on June 12, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born November 13th, 1915, in Strensall, Yorkshire, England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Beadle) Lister. Edna Garnett is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Ross and her husband Jim of Fredericton; four sons, Richard Garnett and his wife Bev of Perth-Andover, David Garnett and his wife Pat of Quispamsis, Michael Garnett and his wife Karen of PerthAndover, Martin Garnett and his wife Gloria of Quispamsis; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Ross, Julie Beattie (Dan), Betsy MacNeil (Tom), Amy Alderman (Aaron), Jonathan and Steven Garnett, Andrew Garnett (Lori), Mark Garnett (Angela), Sarah, Graham, Gordon and Kate Garnett; three great grandchildren, Simon Beattie and Emma and Aiden Garnett; one sister, Elsie Ferguson of England; two brothers Vernon and Douglas Lister of England and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Thomas and Lillian Lister, and husband, Rev. Frederick Garnett, Mrs. Garnett is predeceased by three brothers Leonard, Eric and Norman Lister. With our Mum's passing, a wonderful, adventuresome life has come to an end. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in Cottesmore and Pocklington, England with the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF). She was married in 1943, assuming the role of " the minister's wife". We spent two years in China from 1946-1948 and upon returning to England, lived in several communities in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. In 1959 the Garnett family immigrated to Canada, first residing in Perth-Andover, followed by Canterbury and Kingsley. Mum was living at Windsor Court at the time of her death, where she had made many special friends with residents and staff. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and everyone will always treasure Grammy Garnett's mittens and baby sweater sets. She was a member of the Kingsley-Birdton United Church, the choir and the United Church Women. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Monday, June 14th, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kingsley United Church on Tuesday, June15, 2004 at 2 PM with Rev. Joanne Barr officiating and Rev. Bob Stevensassisting. Pallbearers for the service will be Richard Garnett, David Garnett, Michael Garnett, Martin Garnett, Jim Ross and Jeff Ross. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Kingsley United Church, the Canadian Cancer Society (Breast Cancer Research) or the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
