NEW GLASGOW – Lydia Edna Mahar, 94 of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, passed away on Wednesday, January 21st, 2009, in the manor. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Alma (Clyborne) Mason. Lydia was a former owner of the former Alma Motel and Cabins, New Glasgow. She was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Bell Crowe, Oakville, Ont.; nephews, Gary D. Crowe, Burlington, Ont.; Johnny Flemming, Nova Scotia; sister-in-law, Eileen (Burt) White, New Glasgow. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Mahar; sister, Nettie Young; brothers; Berton Mason, Stanley Mason Jr. and Gordon Mason. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday with Lori Crocker, Diaconal Minister officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in memory of Lydia may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
