
Mary Elizabeth Hessian
Born: January 9th, 1946
TRENTON – Mary Elizabeth (nee Hughes) Hessian, born January 9, 1946, in New Glasgow, NS, passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital on January 26, 2009. Mary was the beloved mother of sons: David (Jennifer), Lower Sackville; and Tony (Cyndi), Trenton; loving Nana and “humorist” to her grandchildren: Justin, Morgan, Marshall and Lucas Hessian. She is survived by her sister, Marion (Brendan) Connaughton, Rexdale, Ont.; and brother, Joseph “Joe” (Bernie) Hughes, Trenton; as well as her close family of nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Theresa Hughes; her brother, Louis “Luke” Hughes; and nephew, Steven Hughes. Mary valued her longtime personal relationships with her many friends and close confidantes. She was well known to many in the community as the quick-witted and acerbic manager of the Coles Book Store at the Highland Square Mall for the past 20 years. Mary was an active member of Christ the King Church as well as a longtime member of the Trenton High School Reunion Committee. Visitation will be held at the R.H Porter Funeral Home, 73 High Street, Trenton, Wednesday, January 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton, on Thursday, January 29, at 3:30 p.m. with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Christ the King Parish.
