Roderick Gordon Maclellan

PLYMOUTH - Roderick Gordon MacLellan, 86, River Road, Plymouth, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Roderick Havelock and Margaret (MacKenzie) MacLellan. He served overseas with the First Division, REME Regiment in England, Sicily, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Holland and France during the Second World War. Gordon was employed with MacGregor Wholesalers and retired from Michelin Tire in 1985. He was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 75, Eureka, and the Overseas War Veterans Association, Pictou. Gordon was known for his extensive flower and vegetable gardens, specifically yellow beans, cucumbers and pumpkins, which he grew on a commercial basis. Gordon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice (Page); daughters: Eileen (Donald) Betts, Churchville; Sandra Grebeldinger (Gerry Hull), Waverley; Carol (Bob) Forbes, Little Harbour; Jane (Kairens) MacDonald, Kenzieville; Nieva MacLellan, Little Harbour; sisters, June Fisher, Valerie (Gordon) Best; brothers: Harold MacLellan, Clarence (Kye) MacLellan, Wayne (Charlene) MacLellan; grandchildren: Kim (Craig) Pochini, Meghan (Ichiro) Kaji, Kendall (Chantal) MacDonald, Damien (Helena) Betts, Ryan (Nicole) Forbes, Rod Forbes, Keeley MacDonald; brother-in-law, Herbert Page, Hastings, England; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters: Rose Larade, Bonnie Roache, Betty Snyder; brothers: Edward, Allan, Robert, Roy in infancy; granddaughter, Holly Lin Forbes. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Roy officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the I.W.K Health Center Foundation or any charity of choice.
