PICTOU – Sharon Ann Young (Dorie), of Pictou, passed away peacefully with her beloved children by her side on July 26, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, at the age of 66 years. A vibrant, independent woman, Sharon was the daughter of the late Henry T. Dorie and Edith (McCarville) Dorie, sister of the late Robert Dorie and former wife and lifelong friend of the late Gerald Young. Sharon's early working years were spent in Pictou and Halifax, working for the Bank of Nova Scotia but the majority of her working life she was employed as an administrative assistant with the Chignecto Central Regional School Board, in the New Glasgow Junior/Senior High, until her retirement in June 2006. Sharon was devoted to her community, committing her time and talents to numerous committees and organizations, which included the role of organist at the Stella Maris and the St. James Anglican Church, which gave her many years of pleasure. Sharon shared her spirit, strong will and sense of humour in all of her endeavours. Sharon will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her many friends, care-givers and former colleagues. Thoughts of Sharon bring the sweetest memories and feelings to her children. Sharon was the loving mother of Jill Young (Bristol, UK) and Jonathan Young (Brussels, Belgium). She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 30/08 at 2 p.m., from Pictou United Church. Family flowers only.
