ORSER, GERALD GEORGE The death of Dr. Gerald Orser, DDS of Fredericton, NB, age 86, occurred unexpectedly on Friday, September 23rd, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Hartland, NB on February 25th, 1919, he was the son of the late George B. and Ida (Lupin) Orser and husband of the late Pauline (MacFarlane) Orser. Dr. Orser received his early education in Carleton County, NB and from 1940 - 1945 served in the Canadian Dental Corps. In 1951 he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University and upon graduation, he was employed by the Department of Public Health, Dental Division, Province of PEI. He began private practice in November 1952 in Woodstock, NB, relocated to Fredericton, NB in April 1962 and maintained a practice until retirement in 1989. Dr. Orser was an Honorary Member of the New Brunswick and Fredericton Dental Associations. He served in various executive capacities, including several terms as President. He was a Life Member of the Canadian Dental Association, representing NB on various committees and the Board of Governors. In 1985 he received induction into the Fellow International College of Dentistry and was awarded Alumnus of the Year by the Department of Dentistry, Dalhousie University. Dr. Orser was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church, serving as chairman of various committees and boards. He was a member of the Fredericton Golf and Curling Club, past member of the Riverbend Golf Club and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton. He is survived by daughters, Tanya Gagnon (Norbert) and children, Gregory and Catherine Delbridge; Pamela Harvey (Scott) and children, Shanyn Small (Shawn), Rob and Erin; Shelly Delbridge (Richard) and children, Christine and David. Son, Gregory Orser (Cheryl) and children, Lindsay and Jeffrey; great-granddaughter, Brynn Small. Also survived by sisters, Geraldine Donovan and Anna Marie Belyea (Wendell). Predeceased by his parents, wife, and brothers Eldon and Ivan Orser. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 tribute service at 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Sunday, September 25th, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Grace Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Hapeman officiating.
