James Zabolotney

Born: March 29th, 1914

Zabolotney James Zabolotney, was born to Zay and Nellie Zabolotney on March 29, 1914. He died on July 2, 2008 at 94 years. He was schooled at Middlevalley and farmed with his Dad in the same district. He married Annie Ionel on March 22, 1942 and raised two sons, Melvin and Ralph. Jim lived in Ormiston for 89 years and the last five years in Moose Jaw. He owned and operated a pool hall and worked at Ormiston Mining & Smelting for 29 years. Jim was the center of attention at gatherings with his music and "Hokus-Pokus". He loved to garden, fish, fix and tinker. Many of his family have tools he invented! His theory for muscle-building (when he was young), was to lift a new-born calf everyday and continue%E2%80%A6! At 75 years old he impressed his grandchildren with his chin-ups. He is predeceased by his parents, and siblings: Paul, Nellie, Katie, Mary, Peter, and Andrew. Jim is survived by his wife, Annie; sons, Mel (Eleanor Westgard), and Ralph (Janette Eckenswiller), grandchildren, Stacey (Bonne Lavineway), Jayda (Wade Bierbach), Sasha (Mark Craven), Beverly (Rod Dollimont), Chanda (Shawn Jesso), and Le Ann (Scott Greenwood); eight great-grandchildren, Anya, Eleandra, Spencer, Ava, Annika, Blake, Grace, and Zay; one brother John; as well as a very special brother-in-law and caregiver, Alex Ionel. The Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Monday July 7, 2008 at 11:00 am. Pastor Barry Gammie will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation for Family and Friends will take place Sunday evening 7 - 8:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the Providence Place Foundation, would be appreciated.
