CYNTHIA JESSIE POTTIE
POTTIE, CYNTHIA JESSIE With family by her side, Cynthia Jessie Pottie (nee Cody) fell asleep in death May 21, 2006. She is survived by her best friend and husband, Kevin Pottie; daughter Lianne O'Hearn of Calgary AB.; son Andrew O'Hearn of London On.; stepdaughter Christie Pottie and stepson Patrick Pottie, both of Fredericton; and Kenneth Smith Gathuru, who was just like a son to her; sisters Sharon Cody (Mac Atkinson) of Fredericton and Kathy Cody (Larry Ruble) of Vancouver, BC.; and brother Robert Cody of Powell River, BC. She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Della Cody (MacFarlane). Cynthia was loved by everyone who knew her. Even if you had just met her for the first time, you felt her sparkle. Her sunny disposition drew people to her and she welcomed them to her family circle. She loved walking, biking, camping and horseback riding, along with being just plain hospitable. Throughout her illness, she maintained her zest for life, keeping family and friends laughing even as she was getting weaker. Cynthia knew what she wanted and was not afraid to let you know what that was. Even from her hospital bed, Cynthia kept Andrew, Lianne and Kevin marching to the beat of her drum. Most of all Cynthia loved Jehovah. One of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 25 years, she went to sleep secure that she is in His memory and that a resurrection into His paradise earth is in her future. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the many friends and congregation members who showed their love and loyal support through visits, cards and food provided. Sincere thanks also to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, who showed extraordinary kindness to Cynthia during her illness. A memorial service for Cynthia will be held in Fredericton at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 184 Woodstock Rd., on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 2 p.m. James Smith of the Yarmouth Nova Scotia Congregation will give the memorial discourse. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for the Worldwide Work.
