J. DAVID COCHRANE

COCHRANE, J. DAVID The death of J. David Cochrane of Fredericton, husband of Dorothy L. (McCaughey) Cochrane occurred on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB on February 24, 1925, he was a son of the late C. H. and Sheila (O'Conner) Cochrane. Mr. Cochrane was an Industrial Arts school teacher, he had taught at Grand Manan High School, St. Stephen High School, Fredericton High School and Albert Street School, retiring from teaching in 1974. He then worked as a draftsman for NB Power until 1985. He was a Veteran of World War II, and was with the #6 Company Canadian Provost Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton, member of the Gibson Memorial United Church where he was a Deacon, on the Church Board, a Choir Member and was active on church committees. Mr. Cochrane was a past member of the Capital Y's Men Club, Charter Member of the RCMP Auxiliary, member of the NB Society of Retired Teachers, was a Driver Training Instructor, a Commanding Officer of the 242 Fredericton High School Army Cadets and was a member of the MicMac Trailer Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Wendy Allen (Bruce) of Edmonton, AB; two sons, David Cochrane (Gail) of Ottawa and Donald Cochrane (Ana) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Meagan (Mike) Cochrane, Courtney Cochrane, Jeffery (Monica) Allen, Christopher Allen, Ethan, Elena and Maia Cochrane; two great grandchildren, Alexander Cochrane and Aurora Allen; one sister, Diana Townsend (Dennis) of Ottawa. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Michael; one brother, Charles; and four sisters, Lorna, Ella, Peggy and Trixie. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 2 pm at the Gibson Memorial United Church with Rev. Boyd Vincent officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4, Fredericton will hold a tribute service following the Memorial Service. Private interment will be held in Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the New Brunswick Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
