GILLIS, SHIRLEY A. (NEE: ROBERTS) Shirley passed away December 11, 2007 in Edmonton, AB, her home for many years. She and husband Don (deceased) raised their four children there. She also has four grandchildren in the area. The daughter of the late Myrtle (Sparks) and Idris Roberts, Shirley leaves behind her sisters, Marion Duke and Joyce (Frank) Rodgers; brothers, Horace (Ethel), David (Karen) and George (Dawn). Shirley found solace in playing the piano; also, listening to classical music. In her youth she sang with Miss Shorten's Choral Group and 'The York Singers'. And after moving to Edmonton she persued her love of music and was chosen to join 'The Richard Eaton Singers'; and later, 'The University Singers'. Shirley was also a talented artist. Regretfully Shirley suffered serious pain for a couple of years. Recently she had two major operations. She never lost her sense of humor. We will all miss her infectious laugh. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
