THOMAS, WILLIAM EDWARD SAUNDERS On February 18, 2008, William E.S. Thomas passed away peacefully at his home in Cardigan. Husband of the late Hazel (Evans) Thomas. Born in Woodland, September 21, 1899, he was the son of the late Richard and Sarah (Saunders) Thomas. He was an honorary member of the Central New Brunswick Welsh Society and North Cardigan United Church. William is survived by his family of four, Glenwood (Pearl), Wendell (Theresa), Elizabeth and Shirley; five grandchildren, Debbie (Zoren), Edward (Andrea), Beverley (Dave), Michael (Nancy) and Christine (Bob); 13 great grandchildren, Shauna, Sarah, Josh (Julie), Amanda (Bill), Billy-Joe, Jacob, Stephen, Elisabeth, Rebecca, Peter Dusty, Abby and Jesse; two great great grandchildren, Jessica and Alivia. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, James, Benjamin, Walter and Fred; sister, Ellen Jane and foster sister, Nellie (Orton) Saunders. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 1 pm with Rev. George Feenstra officiating. Interment will take place in North Cardigan United Church Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers for the service are Joshua, William, Jacob and Stephen Thomas; Dusty and Jesse MacSorley. For those who wish, remembrances made to the North Cardigan United Church Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
