SHIRLEY FRANK BROWN
BROWN, SHIRLEY FRANK Shirley Frank Brown of Bear Island, NB passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2008 with his wife by his side. Shirley was born October 10th, 1923 in Bear Island. He was the son of the late John and Minnie (McLean) Brown. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (Morrison) Brown; three sons, Jerry (Kathleen) of Bear Island, NB, Jack of Westfield, NB, Eddie (Janice) of Sarnia, ON; and one daughter, Shelly (Nort) Hargrove of Meductic, NB; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Scott (Amy), Johnathon (Kathy), Jennifer (Steve) Knox, Tony, Aimee (Colin), Darren, Andrew, and Alister; two step-grandsons, Wesley and Benji Gunter; one great grandson, Josh Shortall; and one step-great granddaughter, Summer Pelletier. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Brown of Bear Island, NB; several brothers and sisters-in-law from the Morrison family, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by sister, Myrtle, and brothers, Bernard and Eldon. Shirley was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, and the outdoors. He was the treasurer of the Bear Island Cemetery Committee, and a life long member of the Liberal Association. He was also a member of the construction labour union, and the pulp and paper union, local 219. Throughout his life Shirley had many trades. He was a self employed truck driver, worked for Wayman Construction, the Dept. of Transportation, operated the Parent Ferry and worked on the construction of both the Mactaquac Dam and the St. Anne Nackawic Pulp and Paper Mill, before retiring from the wood department at St. Anne Nackawic in 1988. Shirley was able to stay at home throughout his illness thanks to the constant care and support he received from his devoted family, his many home care workers, extra-mural nurses, and special attention from Dr. Gareth Morgan. The family will receive relatives and friends at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Saturday July 5th, 2008 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 6th, 2008 at 2 PM, with Julie Clites officiating. Interment will be held at the Bear Island Cemetery following the service. Active pallbearers will be Shirley's six grandsons; Tony, Scott, Darren, Johnathon, Andrew, Alister. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley's other grandchildren and great grandchildren; Nicole, Aimee, Wesley, Jennifer, Benji, Josh, Summer, Colin, Amy, Kathy and Steve.
