GARNET ROGERS

ROGERS, GARNET The death of Garnet Rogers of Oromocto, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, November 8th, 2008. Born in Kentville, NS, he was the son of the late Freeman and Ruth (Farris) Rogers and the husband of Lorena Rogers. Garnet joined the military at the age of 16 in 1953 as Base Supply. It was in 1955 he met Lorena the loved of his life and they married. He severed his country for over 34 years before retiring in 1987. After retirement he continued to work at Base Gagetown as Supply Maintenance for 10 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always had timed for family and friends. He was active in his community serving on many different committees' such as the Geary Lion's Club and St. Luke's Chapel CFB Gagetown He recently received a Life Membership from the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party, he also received many awards from the Geary Lion's Club and was a shinning light to them. Survived by his wife, Lorena, one daughter, Kimberley McCaffrey (Larry) of Central Blissville, NB; four grandchildren, Joel, Corey, Josh and Jordan; two brothers, Paul (Jeanette) of Renfew, ON and William of Digby, ON. He will be sadly missed by family, Friends and especially his close buddy Abby. Predeceased by his parents, sisters, Sylvia, Rose, Gertrude; brothers, Richard, Donald, Lewis and Norman. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm with the Geary Lion' s Club tribute following. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke's Chapel at Base Gagetown. Rev. Darryl Levy will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date.
