VEERKAMP, EUPHEMIA JOHANNA "FEMY" (SCHOLTEN) The sudden passing of Euphemia Johanna "Femy" Veerkamp (Scholten) of Fredericton, NB, beloved wife of Anthony Veerkamp, occurred at home on Friday, December 26, 2008. Born on September 30, 1932 in Slagharen, Holland, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Maria Scholten. Femy was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the CWL. In addition to her beloved husband of 52 years, Femy is survived by her children, Alida (Lidy) Sowers (Bob), Tony Veerkamp (Janine), Maria (Mary-Lou) Mowat (Harvie), Catharina (Cathy) Veerkamp-Wallace (Bill), Irene Veerkamp (Troy Dorcas), Elisabeth (Elise) Gorman, Nancy Legere (Todd) and Diane Boardman (Vincent); 12 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 13 siblings; several nieces and nephews. Femy was predeceased by her parents and six siblings. Femy was a dedicated homemaker and tireless Mother to her eight children. She loved to cook, sew and do handicrafts, especially with her cherished Grandchildren who knew her as Oma. She enjoyed traveling during the later years of her life especially the many visits to Holland with her husband. Family and friends were very important to her and a good laugh and occasional practical joke also gave her great pleasure. She will be sadly missed and very fondly remembered by all who knew her. There will be no visitation by request of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 am with Father John Jennings as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital or to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
