56, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Roger Eugene Hanrahan on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Veronica Hanrahan and the late Alonzo Hanrahan. Roger was a very giving and loving husband, father and grandfather. He praised and thought of many people, those he knew and those he did not. Faith has moved many a mountains for Roger. He was always thankful for his blessings in life, especially family and friends. Roger was a former Sydney Steel Plant worker and a bricklayer by trade. He had a passion for hockey and displayed pure athletic and leadership skills throughout his years playing in the commercial league along with many others. He loved the outdoors. In his early years, he was an avid jogger. He was well known throughout the neighbourhood and had a special relationship with the children. One of his favourite pastimes was his long walks and his heart to heart conversations with his daughter, Michelle. Roger also loved spending time with his son, Roger Jr. and his grandson, Ryland. He was very proud of his entire family. Roger was a volunteer with many organizations, one of which was the Canadian Cancer Society. He and his wife Linda spent many summers together raising awareness throughout Cape Breton. His efforts will be missed. Roger is survived by his wife, Linda Hanrahan (Cole); daughter, Michelle (Jason Bailey); son, Roger Jr. and grandson, Ryland Francis Hanrahan; sisters, Diane (Joseph) Romard, Pasty (Fred) Warren; brothers, David (Mary) Hanrahan and Michael (Debbie) Hanrahan. Beside his father, Roger was also predeceased by his sister, Annette Vieger and brother, Lonnie Hanrahan. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church.
