SAMUELS, KENNETH "KEN" FREDERICK The passing of Ken Samuels of Fredericton, occurred suddenly at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 17th, 2009. He was 86. Born in London, England, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mabel (Nurding) Samuels. He immigrated from England to Canada in 1955. Ken was an RAF Lancaster Bomber Pilot during WWII, flying 33 missions over Germany. He was one of the first British pilots secretly trained in Albany Georgia before the United States entered the war. After his military service he spent the next 40 years in the insurance industry. Ken took an early retirement so he and his wife could travel. In their travels they got to see 4 continents of the world. He was an avid golfer, woodworker, loved to watch soccer, and in his younger days played soccer. He volunteered at the Oromocto Public Hospital, Oromocto Library, and was a board member and former treasurer of the Queen's County Historical Society. His greatest love was his family. Ken is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 64 years Dorothy; son Dr. Ron Samuels (Leslie) of Gagetown, NB, daughter Marilyn Samuels of Milton ON, grandchildren; Jennifer Damashek (Robert) of Burke, Virginia, Lorien Samuels (Mark) of Moncton, Amy Gagnon (Marc) of Canmore, AB; great grandchildren; Samuel and Ruth Damashek, Dominique and Nicolas Gagnon; brother Dennis Samuels (Sheila) of Southampton, England; sister-in-law Betty Jones of Nobleton, ON; nephew Colin Jones of Nobleton ON; Anne Fraser (Mike) mother of Kenneth's granddaughters; Kim Latimer, honorary family member; several other nieces and nephews and cousins. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Sunday, June 21st from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and Monday, June 22nd from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Funeral service to be held at Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 22nd at 3:00 pm with the Venerable John Sharpe officiating. Private internment at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oromocto Public Hospital Foundation, Gagetown Rotary Club or a charity of the donor's choice.
