LaPLANTE, CAROL DEBORAH (DEBBIE) (HEADLEY) 53, Glace Bay With great sadness and loss, we regret to announce the passing of Debbie Laplante (Headley), age 53, of Glace Bay, NS. Debbie passed away on Saturday 16 January 2010, at the Glace Bay General Hospital, Nova Scotia. Born in Glace Bay, NS, Debbie was the proud daughter of late Lawrence Headley and late Dorothy "Icy" (Francis) Brewster of Glace Bay, NS. Debbie was an active serving member of the Canadian Forces Reserve unit, 725 (Glace Bay) Communication Squadron as a Supply Technician. Debbie served 28 years of combined Regular and Rerserve military service. Debbie was employed in various schools as a Teacher Assistant within the Cape Breton Victoria District School Board. Debbie was an active member of the John Bernard Crook, VC, Legion Branch #3 of Glace Bay, NS. Debbie was also heavily involved in officiating Basketball primarily in the Glace Bay area over the past couple of years and was also a member of the Hub Club Ladies Dart League. Debbie was involved in many other organizations in the community. She loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Debbie left many unforgettable memories in all of our hearts. She will also be remembered for her great personality and care for others. Debbie was always there to lend a hand in time of needs. Debbie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Debbie is survived by her husband Yves, of Glace Bay and her daughter Samantha Laplante, of Oromocto, New Brunswick. Debbie is also survived by her sister: Ruby (Headley) McCormick, Deannie Brewster, Mary (Brewster) Peters, Adie and Glenn (Brewster) Murphy, all of Glace Bay, her brothers: Richard Headley, Kevin (Blanche) Headley, Donald (Jackie) Headley, Benji Brewster, all of Glace Bay, Calvin (Terry) Headley, Halifax, NS, brother-in-law Luke Lucas of Sydney NS; her mother-in-law Beatrice (Germain) Laplante, her sister-in-law Lynda and Claude (Laplante) Bourassa, all of V'Al d'Or. Quebec, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by he son Robert Joshua Laplante, her mother Dorothy "Icy" (Francis) Brewster, her step father Joshua Eastland Brewster, all of Glace Bay, her father-in-law Robert Auray Laplante of V'Al d'Or, her sister Dolly (Reddick) Ashe, Winnie (Reddick) Lucas and other family members. Words cannot express the sadness we feel, but we find comfort in knowing that God found another angel. Visitation for Debbie will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
