
EVELYN MARGARET FOSTER
FOSTER, EVELYN MARGARET - The death of Evelyn (MacLeod) Foster of Hampton, NB, occurred on January 8, 2002 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre. Born in Saint John in 1906, she was the daughter of the late Edna (French) and James MacLeod, widow of the late Eldon Foster. Evelyn attended normal school in Fredericton and taught for several years at Whitehead on the Kingston Peninsula. She subsequently lived in Peterborough, Toronto, Quebec City, French River, PEI, and settled in Hampton in 1979. Over the years Evelyn has been involved as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross, the Y.W.C.A., and the Girl Guides of Canada. In 1973, while living in Prince Edward Island she and her husband co-authored a history of French River and Park Corner as part of the province's Centennial Program. In Hampton, Evelyn was a member of the Lakeside Women's Institute, the Kings County Historical Society, the United Church, and was a volunteer at the Community Library. Evelyn was an avid collector of antique furniture and china which she proudly displayed in her beautifully restored heritage home. She is survived by sons Barry (Claire) of Mississauga and Gordon (Jean) of Smithtown, grandchildren Jennifer, Jay (Patty), Kevin, Natalie, and Kyra, sister Marion (Robert) Wilson, and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by brothers Ronald, Kenneth, and Donald MacLeod. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Friday at Reid's Funeral Home Chapel with service at 1:00 pm. Rev. Keith Lyons will officiate. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery in the spring.
