Sophie Kunicki

Whitney Pier Sophia ‘Sophie’ Kunicki, 92, of The Cove Guest Home, formerly of Henry Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2008, after a short illness. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Mary Malowany. She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish parish. Sophie had been employed at Dodick’s Ladies Wear for many years. Sophie was a great bingo fan, who also loved music and dancing and family above all. She is survived by a daughter, Rose (David) Tweel, P.E.I.; sons, Joe, Sydney, Len (Helen), Halifax; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie (John) Strickey, Indian Brook, Olga (Ed) Dunphy, Sydney; and brother, Mike Malowany, Sydney. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, sisters, Stella Bartman, Aggie Kazimer, a brother, Bill and a brother in childhood. There will be no visitation. A funeral service for the late Mrs. Kunicki will take place at 11 a.m., Sunday at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Jim MacLean officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
