H. RONALD SHURMAN

SHURMAN, H. RONALD - 96 of Collingwood, Cumberland County, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 in Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Collingwood, he was the son of the late George C. and Eleanor (Nellie) (Colborne) Schurman. He served in England during the Second World War with the R.C.E.M.E. He worked as an auto mechanic and in the lumbering and blueberry industries, retiring in the early 1970's. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 36, Oxford. He is survived by son George (Rhonda) Schurman, Quispamsis, N.B.; daughter Dorothy (Bill) Link, Collingwood; brothers Paul, Judique, Cape Breton and Gordon, Truro; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Reta M. Reid and a sister Muriel, in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be today, Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Royal Canadian Legion Service 7p.m., both in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford. Funeral Service will be 2p.m. Tuesday in the Collingwood United Church, with Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Wyvern Cemetery.
