Mary Suzanne (Whalen) Gorman

Passed away in the Transitional Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, Wednesday, May 21, 2008, surrounded by her family. Born in Sydney Mines, April 30, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Sarabelle (Young) Whalen Tobin. Mary was an adherent of St. Thomas Aquinas parish and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League; a life member of the Cape Breton Club; a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Vimy Branch 27; a member and past president of the former Scotia Branch RCL and a former member of St. John Ambulance. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank; daughters, Anne Marie Watson, Manitoba, Fran, Halifax, Gerri, Halifax; grandchildren, Sandy (Sonia), Dutch Settlement, David (Christa), Piggot Lake, Bradley (Kelli), Dartmouth, Warren, Alberta, Lee, Amherst, Tara (Trevor), Dartmouth; great-grandchildren, Geraldine and Jessica, Halifax, Rhys and Teghan, Dutch Settlement; sister, Margaret Bullied, Toronto; brothers, Emerson (May), Francis, Bernard (Shirley), all of Cape Breton. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Agnes, Martina, infant sister, Alice and brother, Billy. Mary is resting in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2032 Robie St., Halifax, where visitation was held yesterday (May 23, 2008) and will also be held today (May 24, 2008) from 7-9 p.m., as well as Sunday, May 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Oxford Street.
