
DOREEN FRANCES B.T. WAYNE
WAYNE, DOREEN FRANCES B.T., - The death of Mrs. Doreen Frances Wayne, widow of the late Harvey T. Wayne, of 18 Wayne Terrace, occurred at Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 15, 2002. Born in Maces Bay, N.B. on September 5, 1926, she was the only daughter of the late Harry E. and Olive B. (Mawhinney) Small. She lived in Saint John most of her life and was a graduate of Saint John High School, Provincial Normal School (Teacher's College) and the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Teaching Degree. Mrs. Wayne taught for thirty-five years in the Saint John Schools at South Bay, Winter Street, Princess Anne, Prince Charles, Barnhill Memorial and Island View, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Saint John Branch, an active member of Hillcrest United Baptist Church a Dominion Life Member of the Edith Allaby Women's Missionary Society, the Saint John High School Alumni, the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxilary and Keenagers Senior's Group of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was also a member of P.C. Party, Local, Provincial and Federal. For many years she and her late husband enjoyed their cottage on the Belleisle, boating on the St. John River System, travelling, entertaining, gardening and music. She is survived by one brother Floyd D. Small (Elsie) of Maces Bay, two nephews Bradley K. Small (Elaine) and their children Katie, Joel and Jillian and David H. Small (Jane) and their children Emily and Samuel of Maces Bay, a sister in law Mildred Urquhart-Cain, a brother in law Harry L. Wayne, of Saint John and several cousins. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother Marvin Gerald Small. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John (634-1701) with visiting on Saturday, November 16, 2002 from 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4, & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, on Monday, November 18, 2002 at 2 PM. Interment to take place in Maces Bay Cemetery, Maces Bay. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
