BROTHER FREDERICK STAFFORD
STAFFORD, BROTHER FREDERICK - The death of Brother Frederick Stafford, Oblate of Mary Immaculate, occurred at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, on Sunday, April 20, 2003, in his 90th year, following a lengthy illness. Brother Stafford was born in Saint John, a son of the late Frederick and Catherine (Connell) Stafford. Brother Fred served in a number of ministries during his Oblate Life, as sacristan at Canadian Martyrs Church, Ottawa, as Boys Supervisor at Cranbrook Indian School, as cook and farm assistant at Holy Rosary Scholasticate in Ottawa, as Supervisor of Boys at Kamloops Indian School, as circulation manager of the Oblate Missions Magazine in Ottawa, as sacristan at St. Augustine's Church, Vancouver, as well as providing secretarial service for the Provincial Administration. He retired in 1986 and remained at Pandosy Place until his death. He was predeceased by two sisters; Margaret and Helen Stafford. He is survived by one brother, J. Harold Stafford (Lillian) of Saint John; and several cousins. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Church on Wednesday, April 23rd, followed by interment in the Oblate Cemetery, Mission, B.C. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Saint John, on Thursday, May 1, 2003, at twelve o'clock. www.fitzpatrickfh.com
