Alvin Fifield

Sydney Alvin Fifield, 68, formerly of James Street in Whitney Pier, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bonavista, Nfld., he was a son of the late William and Susan (Stagg) Fifield. Alvin was a long time resident of Whitney Pier. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fan of harness racing and the Boston Bruins. Alvin is survived by his wife, Edith (Antinello); two daughters, Susan (Lee) Stewart and Debra (Geoff) MacLeod; a son, Wayne (Kimberlee) Fifield; four sisters, Jessie Farr, Shirley (Ronnie) Lorway, Edith Hrynick and Susanne Fifield and stepmother, Annie Fifield. Alvin will be also missed by his by five grandchildren, Christopher, Megan and Brandon Stewart; Benjamin and Nicholas MacLeod and his beloved dog, Morgan. Besides his parents, Alvin was predeceased by a brother, George Fifield. Visitation and funeral service for the late Alvin Fifield will take place in the All Faith Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. with entrance on Church St., Whitney Pier. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. with funeral service to follow with Major Dan Roode officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the funeral home reception area. At this time the Fifield family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Cancer Centre as well as to the nurses and doctors of Palliative Care. Special thanks to Palliative Care Nurse Michelle Curtis, Dr. Gracie, Dr. D’Intino and Dr. Ritter for their care and compassion. Donations in memory of Alvin may be made to Palliative Care.
