75, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Alice Willena (Munroe) MacQueen, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex, on Sept. 13, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, the youngest daughter of the late George and Maude (MacDonald) Munroe. Alice was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. She was a lifetime member and volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Association and received a number of awards including the Certificate of Merit 2004. She was also a lifetime member of LOBA lodge and was active for many years with the Kinettes. Alice loved to play cards and will be missed by her Club group of 50+ years. She is survived by her husband Angus (Guy) MacQueen; her daughter, Alexis MacQueen-MacDonald (Jim); and son, George (Tasha). She will be missed by her four grandchildren, Alanna MacQueen Bresson (Michael), Curtis MacQueen, Katherine and Alison MacDonald. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Owen and Chase Bresson. She is also survived by her sister, Georgina Milley; half sister, Catherine (Art) Peach; and half brother, Arthur Smith (Glayds). She is survived by her sister-in-law, Tena Simmons (Jimmie); brothers-in-law, Charlie MacQueen (Pat), Cecil MacQueen (Starla), Keith MacQueen (Gail) and also many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by half brothers, Hector (Florence) MacMillan and John MacDonald and half sisters, Margaret (Micky) Campbell and Mary (Bob) Bleakney. Visitation for the late Alice MacQueen will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at Patten Funeral Home & Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520. A celebration of life will take place Tuesday, Sept. 16 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay at 2 p.m. with Michael Henderson officiating. Private family burial to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney/Glace Bay Highway. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
