
John James 'Jack' Robertson

58, Howie Center John James ‘Jack’ Robertson, 58, of Howie Center, passed away suddenly at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008. Born in Sydney, Jack was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (MacDonald) Robertson. Before retiring, he was a dedicated employee of Sydney Steel for 30 years. Jack was also a member of East Bay Legion Branch 151. He will always be fondly remembered for his lively sense of humour and his devotion to family and friends. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary and his stepmother, Jacqueline. Jack will be sadly missed by his wife, Maureen (MacPhee); as well his daughter, Erin; and son, Adam. Surviving family members include sisters, Trudy Newcombe, Massachusetts, and Joan (Klaus) Krombholz, Vancouver; brothers, Donnie (Sandra), Lawrence (Jackie), Howie Center, Terance (Lettie), Sydney, Allan (Margaret), Sydney River, Phonse (Doreen), Ottawa; and brother-in-law, Gerry Smith, Howie Center. Jack is also survived by his paternal aunt, Rita Windsor. Visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, second level, on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception in the church basement.
