Steven Turner MacCormack

45, Sydney It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Steven MacCormack, 45, of Sydney, which occurred Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at home. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Doug and Ellen (Turner) MacCormack, Grand Lake Road. Steven graduated from Riverview High school in 1982 and from the Nova Scotia Community College in Truro with a diploma in Ecotourism. Steven loved life; he enjoyed traveling, sports, fishing and was a real people person. He lived in Toronto for a number of years working in the Skydome. He loved to play basketball and assisted in coaching at Saint Mary's University. Surviving are his wife Shirley (Boutilier) MacCormack, Albert Bridge; siblings, Jerry (Glenda), Kathryn (Philip Cogswell), both of Albert Bridge, Ralph, Winnipeg, Ellen (Kevin Batherson), Ottawa, John (Dorothy MacLeod), Chestergrant, N.S., Lorraine MacCormack (Kevin Mason), Windsor, N.S., James (Joan Mahoney), Halifax, Janet (Bob Keoughan), Red Deer, Alberta. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Edna (Tim) Nearing and Janet (George) House, both of Glace Bay; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steven was predeceased by his parents, Doug and Ellen (Turner) MacCormack. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Patrick O'Neill officiating.
