DORIS ESTELLA (BISHOP) STODDART
STODDART, DORIS ESTELLA (BISHOP) - Doris Estella (Bishop) Stoddart, 90, Cookvilla Home for Seniors, and formally of Pentz, Lunenburg Co. passed away in Fisherman's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg on June 19, 2004 following a brief illness. Born in South Williamston, Annapolis Co., N.S. on March 12, 1914; she was the daughter of the late Col. Arthur and Mary Estella (Brown) Bishop. Upon graduating from Normal College in 1934, she taught in a one room school in Nictaux Falls. On September 3, 1938, she married the late Reginald Myles Stoddart. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1988. After living in Yarmouth, Halifax and Saint John, Doris and Reg retired to Pentz in 1971. They enjoyed many new and old friends in Pentz, as well as special winters in the Florida community of Ft. Pierce. Doris was a life member of the Bishop Family Association in Wolfville. She was a cherished mother and grandmother. Besides her grandchildren, her favorite pastime hours were spent knitting special memories for friends, family and grandchildren. Her masterful needlepoint adorns many a warm room. Gardens and floral arrangements will miss her skillful touch. The smell of fresh baked pies, cookies and masterful dinners will remain in the air. Doris was predeceased by Reg, her husband of 55 years, an infant son and brothers Carroll and Brenton. She is survived by her son John (Carolyn) Stoddart of Sackville, N.S., son James (Theresa) Stoddart of Saint John, N.B., daughter Mary (Brian) Hillis of Rothesay, N.B., grandchildren Michael (Carmella) Stoddart, Michele (Stephen) Cox, Nancy Stoddart, all of Sackville, N.S., Angela (Jeff) Arthurs, Kara Hillis, Peter Stoddart, Ann Stoddart and Christine Stoddart, all of Saint John, N.B., Patrick (Maritza) Stoddart of Montreal and great grandchildren Craig, Kailey, Kristen and Ashley Stoddart of Sackville, N.S., Briana Arthurs of Saint John, N.B., and Sydney Stoddart of Montreal. Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, N.S., where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial following at Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, Annapolis County.
