NICOL, MARY E. (THOMPSON) - Mary E. Nicol (Thompson) of Curry Road, Rotterdam, NY, passed away at her residence on Monday December 27th, 2004 at the age of 80. Born on September 16th, 1924 in Youngs Cove, New Brunswick, Canada, she was educated there as well. Mary moved from New Brunswick, Canada to New York in 1946 where she was employed for 30 years as a secretary for the Credit Dept. of Carl Co. and was a member of the State Street Presbyterian Church. Wife of the late John George Nicol (1984) whom she married on April 23rd, 1946, Mary is survived by her sons Gary (Rhonda) Nicol of Malta and J. Dennis (Gail) Nicol of Charleston Four Corners, sister Maude Howes, Sussex Corner, New Brunswick, Canada, grandchildren John Nicol of Sharon, NY, Brian Nicol of Sharon Springs, NY, Tamara Lynn Salisbury of Howes Cave, NY, Gary Nicol Jr. of Colonie, NY, Christa Chiacca Retti of Shenectady, Alexander Nicol of Malta and also by nine great grandchildren. As well as her husband, Mary was predeceased by her parents James A. and Annabelle Hamm Thompson. Funeral Services to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held 10 am Thursday at the Lights Funeral Home, 1428 State Street, Shenectady. Calling hours will be held 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreeen Memorial Park, Colonie. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
