KIERSTEAD, LETTY - With the deepest sorrow, I have to announce the passing of my beloved mother Letty C. Kierstead (nee Twidle) on January 16, 2005. She succumbed at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born in Cottingham, England in 1916. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph C. and her brother Phillip and his spouse Dorothy. My mother was active in many things over the years and a member of the Hospital Auxillary IODE, church groups and her most loved job was being a volunteer at both the General and Regional Hospitals where she was on the lobby pool for over thirty years. She met and made many friends who she cherished. Her most important role was being an incredible mother. I have great respect and love for this lady. She is survived by her loving daughter Angela May (Saint John) and her son David of Calgary. Our mother was a very special person - she touched many lives. We feel so blessed to have had her in ours. She will always be with us. We were a very close mother and daughter - We were quite a team! I honour her and will always be eternally grateful for her love and her teachings. Now I must ask all of you for your understanding and care. My mother's wishes are as follows: No visiting, no funeral, no memorial service. She disliked these rituals. As her daughter I must fulfill these requests. I made her a promise and I will never break it. There will be a private family service conducted by Rev. John Fraser after which she will be cremated. She would like to be remembered when she was alive and well. I ask you to respect this and remember her for her warm smile and her kind heart. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your choice. I now must thank some of the many people who helped her, first, the Doctors and nurses of 4BN, 3CN and SICU. Special thanks to Dr. John Mowatt, Dr. Jim Mowatt and Dr. Grant, nurses - Murphy and Sue and Kim (X - ray). Thank you to Extra Mural and VON, also the ambulance crews, special thanks to Mike and to the Firemen. A very special thank you to our friends. Letty Kierstead will be greatly missed.
