REV. DR. BYRON W. FENWICK

FENWICK, REV. DR. BYRON W. - Rev. Dr. Byron W. Fenwick of Kentville, NS, passed away peacefully Monday March 7, 2005 at home. Born April 16, 1937 at The Glades, NB, to The Rev. H. F. and Mrs. Helen (Tozer) Fenwick and raised in various communities in the Maritimes where his father served as the Baptist minister. He was educated at Acadia University (BA), Acadia Divinity College (MDiv) and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (DMin). Throughout his life, he served his Lord with gladness as pastor, denominational leader, mentor and friend. Pastorates included Baptist churches in Middleton, Kentville, Liverpool and Brooklyn in Nova Scotia as well as in St. John's, Newfoundland. He also served as director of Boy's Work and Director of Training for the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches, Executive Minister of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, and Director of Supervised Field Education and Dean of Students at Acadia Divinity College. He served a term as president of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches as well as on various Boards and Committees of Convention. He was a member of the Rotary Clubs of both Kentville and Middleton and Padre of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department during his years of pastoring in Kentville. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorraine (Curry) Fenwick; daughters, Kim Fenwick (Leo Berk); Angie Fenwick Gibb (Clifford Fenwick Gibb); sisters, Vivian (Irvine) Read, Margaret Fenwick, Janet (Vaughan) Roxborough; granddaughters, Courtney and Chelsea Berk; nieces, Margaret Postlethwaite (Bob and children Justin and Lucas), Margie Roxborough (John Neville and children Alexander and Rachel) and Heather Roxborough (Bill Jackson); nephews, Donald Read (Laura Beeler and daughter Maya), John Warnock (Jennifer and daughter Caley) and Scott Roxborough (Andrea and daughter Eva). He was predeceased by his parents. Visitation will be held from 3 - 4:30 and 7 - 9 pm, Thursday March 10, 2005 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday March 11, 2005 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County, NS. Memorial donations to Acadia Divinity College or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. No flowers by request due to environmental sensitivity. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
