AMHERST – Donald (Don) Gerald Bishop, 70, of Amherst passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Born in Leicester, Cumberland County he was a son of the late Gerald S. and Georgina (Doncaster) Bishop. Don owned and operated his own construction business for 41 years in Amherst. He was an avid hockey fan of the Amherst Ramblers. Don was very dedicated to his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time at his cottage in Northport. He is survived by his wife, the former Pat Hyslop; sons James (Krista) and Dale of Amherst; daughter Cheryl (Wayne) MacKenzie of Amherst; grandchildren Jenn, Ryan, Evan, Aleena and Sarah; brother Wayne (Evelyn) of Amherst; sisters Gwen (George) Mason and Darlene McPherson of Amherst; uncle Carl (Gladys) of Amherst and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by a brother Ralph. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, at 3 p.m. from the Amherst Wesleyan Church, Amherst, with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating. Family flowers only. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
