MOSES , WINTHROP THURSTON (WINNIE) 91 - of North Head, Grand Manan, passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Saturday, July 9th, 2005. Born at Groveland, Mass. He was the son of Charles and Florence (Burnham) Moses of North Head Grand Manan. Winnie moved to Grand Manan Island in 1931 after graduating from High School to join his parents on the Burnham (Moses) Farm. He retired as Branch Manager of Gourock, Bridgeport, Gundy, Pymore Twine Co., Grand Manan in 1972. He was a member of Mananook Lodge F & AM #32 of Grand Manan, and a former member of the Oddfellows Lodge, and a summer resident of Island View Campground in Bayside. He is survived by one daughter Donna Nixon (Vernon), Hampton, two step Grandsons Norman Nixon (Leah), Waweig, Peter Nixon (Krista), Rothesay, six step Grand Children, Zackary, Samantha, Jacob, Jessie Nixon all of Waweig, Marilyn, and Hannah Nixon of Rothesay, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Doris Margaret (Brown) in 1997, one sister Mary Johnson (Geral ) , two brothers Charles of Grand Manan and Ossian of Gobles Michigan. The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Monday 2-4, and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, at 1:30 PM at the North Head Wesleyan Church, North Head, with Rev. Scott Lewis officiating assisted by Rev. Charles Bain, with interment to follow at the North Head Cemetery. The family has requested donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
